One of my nineteen before twenty goals is to get my room fully decorated. Until recently I had no idea what I wanted it to look like, but since I finally had an idea, I wanted to get it done and have a place that I could chill out and relax and be comfortable.
So when I got back from my trip I set to work and I have almost all of it done! I still need a rug and to tough up a few paint jobs, but I'm so happy with it so far! Here are a few pics of it + my room tour video! You can see the rest of the photos here (along with some photos of the different styles I've tried over the years) if you're interested.
And a big thank you to Kaelah Bee for the closet idea! It's been a huge life-saver what with my miniscule closet and all! ♥
I've really been enjoying filming vlogs lately, so I decided to film a video of what I got in each of my subscription boxes this month. Since I don't know how many of you are aware of my YouTube account, I figured I'd share them all here. Let me know if this is something you'd like me to start doing every month!
So I've decided to start sharing my subscription box hauls on the last Saturday of every month, so here's my Ipsy bag of October! I also signed up for Little Black Bag this month, but since I signed up late it won't arrive until sometime next week. Oh well! I'll be sure to include my November Little Black Bag next month.
Also, I think I'm finally getting the hang of this whole "video blogging" thing! I only had to stop the camera twice and was much more myself through the whole thing! Win.
After my last makeup video, Lauren of Someone Like You said I should definitely do more. So today I filmed + edited this In My Makeup Bag video. It's not the best quality, but it does the job. (I'm thinking of filming my next one with my camera instead of my webcam, but we'll see.)
Maddie and I had so much fun making our last outfit video, that we decided to do another! My little sis is a total YouTube junkie, and does a great job with these videos. Plus she sometimes vlogs, so you should totally check out her channel because she's hilarious. ♥
I made this video several months ago. I know that lots of bloggers have already done "how to take outfit photos" posts, but I thought I'd add my two cents in - and also try doing something besides just a normal post. For more tips, keep reading.
Not going to lie. This is the thing I struggle with the most when it comesto outfit posts. It sems like all the best locations are a) on private property or b) extremely hard to get to. My best tip is just to keep your eye out when you're out and about, and if you're shy about going, try taking a friend with you. If all else fails, a simple brick wall never fails!
If possible I recommend using a DSLR camera. They provide clearer photos, and make the background blurrier, which is great because the outfit stands out better! I usually take my big, black purse with me and use that as a marker to focus on. If you don't bring something with to use as a marker, try using a stick or a flower or a tree or something.
This is another tricky part. The biggest tip I have, is to just try to be yourself. Just try to be confident - stand tall and try lots of different poses till you find a few that look good. Then when you're in a hurry you'll know what to do without having to spend a lot of time messing about.
Props are a great way to loosen up and get some good shots. I usually bring my purse, and use my accessories + whatever I can find around where I'm taking pictures. I hold flowers, grasp tree branches, hold my necklace, sunglasses, etc. Whatever you can make work!
I hope this helps! If you have any additional tips or tricks go ahead and leave a comment. I'd love to hear 'em!
Here's the makeup tutorial I filmed last week. Would you believe it was over eighteen minutes when I finished? Luckily I got it to just over eight after I cut out all my ramblings. ;) I hope you enjoy it.
The lovely Hannah of Sleepsongs and Shadowlands emailed me last week to ask if she could mention me in a YouTube video she was planning on making about positive roll models. She was so sweet, and I have to admit I was so flattered, and of course I said yes. She just emailed me again last night to tell me that the video is now up. You all should seriously go watch it. She is so sweet and cute!
Thank you so much, Hannah. I am so honored to have been mentioned in your cool video, and you are too, too sweet! ♥
A few months ago Maddie and I went on an impromptu photo shoot for my One Year post. I love how the pictures turned out and loved showing you, but what I didn't get to show you was this short video Maddie made - mainly because she hadn't edited it yet. However, she finally got it done last week, and I am super excited to show you all! It turned out so well, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
I had so much fun doing my last thrifting haulvideo, that I decided to do another. This one is all the stuff I got for my room, and a couple other random things. I hope you all like it!
So here it is! The second part to my video thrifting haul. I had so much fun making these videos that I think I am going to make it a regular feature! What do you all think of that? Comment and tell me your thoughts!
I was planning on posting some pictures from when Heather, Christina, and I went to the beach, but I haven't finished editing them yet. So I hope you'll enjoy this thrifting haul video instead. After I made it I realized it was fifteen minutes long! So I decided to make it into two parts. I'll post the second part on Thursday.
It's my first "vlog," so I'm a little awkward, and I talk a little too fast, but I hope you all like it anyway. If you do comment and let me know!
