Romance and Comfort-ability

On Saturday my mom and little sister and I went to Ulta to get our make up done. I got a hair cut, as well. My old hair cut was just way too hard to take care of! This is how the hair stylist styled it after cutting it (this is the next day after sleeping on it and it still looked great!). Usually I hate my hair straight, but I loved it like this! I wanted to keep it like this forever!

My mom had her make up done by Benefit, and my sister and I got ours done by Urban Decay. The make up artist was so great! I said I wanted something bright and fun because I don't usually do that. She used purple eyeshadow, and a really pretty aqua color along with a really light pink for blending and a dark teal eye liner. (iPod picture) I wasn't planning on buying any make up that day, but I loved the color palate she used so much - well, let's just say I won't be getting any film developed before my trip. *grins* Here's my re-do of the make up from Saturday (minus the teal eyeliner that didn't come in the palate). Sorry it doesn't show up as well on camera...

So, now about my outfit. I love this outfit! I've struggled for a while with how I dress. I want to have a more pretty, feminine, old fashioned romantic (a : marked by the imaginative or emotional appeal of what is heroic, adventurous, remote, mysterious, or idealized) life. Some days when I'm tired all I want is a tee-shirt and jeans, but that's so unromantic and I never feel pretty when wearing that. So here is my alternative: a short dress with jeans and ballet flats! Just as comfy and about twenty times prettier and more romantic! Eventually I want to get some romantic, flowy blouses as well, but even so I love this outfit. It's seriously one of my favorites. *insert heart*
So, this is the end of my ramblings. I felt like I had so much to say after such a long absence. It's really terrible. I've just been so busy trying to finish all my school work before my trip. I'm looking forward to summer break. *grins*

Until next time my loyal readers...

I was feeling very in the mood for a romantic, 70's inspired outfit the other day. So this is what I put together. I loved the fact that my Holga looked so good with it.

I was featured on ModCloth's Tumblr the other day. I was very thrilled. Speaking of Tumblr, I've found some of the most beautiful pictures for my Tumblr blog lately. Go ahead and follow me so you can get all my lovely updates *hint hint*

Music Monday - #11 Taylor Swift's Sparks Fly

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

My strategy for Music Monday? When in doubt pick a Taylor Swift song with a catchy tune and awesome beat. *winks*

But here's an interesting story about this song, Taylor Swift played this at a few of her concerts in her Fearless tour. The song was so well liked, and she had so many requests for this song to be released, that she put it on her Speak Now album.

It's not as amazing as last week's song, but I hope you all enjoy it nonetheless.

Over the Pond

In honor of the day of the Irish I am posting my outfit post over here on a blog named after a street in London. I'm not very sure of the logic behind that, but nonetheless, I would love it if you'd check it out.

I'm Just Beautiful Me

Of course, we didn't have time to get pictures for my blog, so I was forced to re-create the outfit yesterday for all of you - not that I minded.

katie dahl beautifully pure beach homemade dress chic vintage red exposed zipper modest fashion personal style blogkatie dahl beautifully pure beach homemade dress chic vintage red exposed zipper modest fashion personal style blogI went with an exposed zipper in the back because a) I love that it brings out the red flowers in the dress, and b) it looked a lot easier than a hidden zipper. And I think it was, once I got the hang of it. Which I had after the third time. That time it went on almost without any problems. And yes, I did had to put it on three times. Now I know why everyone told me zippers are a pain. They look so easy! The good news is that, like I said, I think I have the hang of exposed zippers. So, trend or no trend, I will be doing them for the rest of my life - just so you know.

katie dahl beautifully pure beach homemade dress chic vintage red exposed zipper modest fashion personal style blogI was so cold taking this picture. It felt so warm outside. I was hardly cold at all with just a light jacket and cardigan - and then I took them off. And froze. Some day it is going to be naturally warm - like *gasps* eighty degrees, and I am going to wear the exact outfit above only without the tights, and I am going to go to the beach in it and walk in the sand carrying my sandals, and then trek around in the long reeds with my Diana and/or Holga camera. Add my big sis into that equation and you have my idea of bliss. Someday...

Music Monday - Selena Gomez's Who Says

So on Friday Night Selena Gomez released her newest single, Who Says. I hadn't even heard about it till it was released, and I didn't really care - till I heard it. I think this just may be one of her best songs yet. It's very different from her last two albums. Kiss and Tell was very teen-pop/rock techno, and A Year Without Rain was a much more mature techno. But Who Says is very accustic - it reminds me a lot of Colbie Caillat. It is completely unexpected, but Selena rocked it. I love it so much - especially the lyrics.

"You made me insecure
Told me I wasn’t good enough
But who are you to judge
When you’re a diamond in the rough
...
But when it comes to me
I wouldn’t want to be anybody else
...
Who says you’re not pretty?
Who says you’re not beautiful?
Who say?"

P.S. Look carefully at the street signs. *winks*

New Toys

Credit

Thursday I took great joy in ordering my very first Diana +F without flash (not the mini) from Lomography, along with three lovely rolls of film - including one roll of slide film! I am so very excited, especially since on Friday I then ordered a Holga camera as well! I was going to get the Diana +F with flash, but I realized that I could get a Diana without flash, a Holga camera, and three rolls of film for about the same price, so I went with that instead. *winks*

And this is all perfect timing for the start of my new co-blog, The Baker Street Blog! My lovely big sister/co-author, Heather, was telling me Wednesday night that she liked taking pictures, but then never had anything to do with them once she did. So I suggested we start a photo blog together. Well, over the course of a couple days talk the idea sort of evolved into a full on blog.

This does not, under any circumstances mean I am abandoning Beautifully Pure. I will still be posting on here - and hopefully more often than I have been lately - but I will also be posting on TBSB. Mostly photography and some sewing projects, but also some outfits from time to time. While here on BP I will be posting mostly outfits, music, and pretty clothes I like - I even have a really cool interview planned for sometime soon, that I am totally excited about!

So yeah, there'll be some changes, but I'm really excited about it. My photography posts don't always seem to get as much attention on here as I'd like - which I understand. This is, after all, first and foremost a fashion blog, but my photography needs a home too! So TBSB will be their home, and give me something fun to do with my big sister again. I can't wait to get to post on it together in April! So go check it out - right now! I made a custom template for it over the week end I dare say it is my best yet!

One Last Look Back

Last week my big sis challenged me to do one last winter outfit before spring came... the idea kinda failed... For one thing, once I get it into my head that spring is almost here, it's very hard to get me to put aside thoughts of spring for thoughts of winter again, so the result was still a bit springy - but I did wear darker colors and ankle boots, so it counts as winter! The second problem I had is that all the snow/ice that was there when I got dressed, melted before I managed to take pictures, further adding to the spring look. I'm sorry, Heather. I tried my best...

Urban Fairy

Sorry I have not updated in so long! I've been super busy with school and all stressed out and stuff. >.< It's not very fun... Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things this week!

I wore this outfit a couple weeks ago. My cousin Anna made the hair wreath for me, and I wanted to wear it with something. Despite how comfy it is, I haven't worn this dress in a while. It's just not one of my favorite silhouettes. I was very tired that day, however, and I liked the look of it with the wreath, so I wore it anyway.

The necklace is a best friends necklace - my big sis has a matching blue one. I wear mine tucked in my shirt everyday, but I pull it out every time I have an outfit to match! :D

Dress - Walmart
Tights - Simply Vera by Vera Wang
Boots - Merona

Music Monday - #11 Superchick's One Girl Revolution

I found this song over the week end.

"The super doesn't stand for model
But that doesn't mean I'm plain
If all you see is how I look
You miss the superchick within"

Any guesses as to why I love it? :D And yes, Superchic does rock.
