I'm in Hillbilly Heck // Daily Outfit

Yeah, I know that's not exactly what Lightening McQueen says, but I don't really like to use the "H" word, and I do love that line! I'm not exactly sure why, but it just cracks me up! Maybe it's because I've spent most of my teen years looking forward to visiting places that would probably be described by in the same way that Lightening McQueen explains Radiator Springs.

I'm just a city girl longing to be a country gal. It's not too much to ask that you all indulge my desire and play along, is it? Or, as Anne Shirley would probably put it "would you please call me a country gal?" Poor Anne and I: both wishing for things we just weren't born with. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to listen to to my Cars soundtrack while sending out some emails. ;)

  1. Plaid and blue jean, yes, very western. Country. Whatever people call it.
I love the country. Driving in blizzards. Having to cover up every bit of skin so nothing freezes when you go outside. Climbing up sheer rock faces while the trees below you display their flashy colors of red, yellow, and orange. Always making sure you're armed when you go out hiking or camping in case you run into mountain lions. Swimming in lakes. Sledding down steep hills. Climbing rotting trees and hoping they will bare your weight. Rolling logs down hills to burn in your camp fire. Eating jerky while sitting on top of a sun baked rock. Feeling the stiff wind bellowing behind you and getting that wonderful feeling that it is going to lift you off the mountain and carry you out over the valley. Running in sage brush. Having to keep track of directions so you won't get lost in the forests. Jumping about on wet rocks that stick out of icy rivers. Standing in an open field and watching lighting zig zag across the sky, feeling the whole world shaken by a blast of thunder that can stop your heart beating. Sleeping out under a black sky speckled with glittering white stars that shimmer like jewels.

I guess I'm very much a country person.

  2. Have you ever visited North Carolina? That's where I'm from. If you like country, look no further! =)

    1. No, I've never visited North Carolina. The farthest east I've ever been is Alabama - and I was barely even into there. I've been out west, though (Colorado/Wyoming area) and I loved it out there! The mountains are gorgeous! <3

  3. Ah, looks like you and I are on the same page. I've always wanted to be a country girl, but I've moved around from city to city all my life. Now we're finally settled down but it's still the city. :P

  5. Wonderful outfit and beautiful scenery! I'm originally from Wisconsin so that corn field looks like most of my friends' backyards. :]] Plus I love the idea of having an "underskirt," since lately I've been dealing with dresses that are adorable but a teensy bit too short.

  6. You're style is so cute, layering is a fun idea. Coming up with outfits, for me at least, is hard. But you always have such lovely ones. I love looking at them, they inspire me to find my own style - that isn't all khaki.
