Photography Wish List

1. A lens hood for ever lens I have! I don't need them often, but when I do, it'd be nice to have!
2. White balance lens cap. This would save hours of editing!!
3. A pretty cover for my camera strap. I'd love to not have the "Canon 60D" in big red letters on my camera strap (in other words: "I'm a good camera, steal me!") This one from Etsy is gorgeous.
4. A remote for my camera. IFB recommends this one.
5. 50mm f/1.8 camera lens. I used to have one, but it brook a couple weeks ago. Time to replace it!
6. Another Jo Totes bag! I already have the Rose in teal, but I really want the Missy in pink! They don't make it anymore, but I'm still hoping to find it on Ebay or something, sometime!
7. The 40mm f/2.8 "pancake" lens. This is very similar to the 50mm, lens, but a bit wider with a lower f-stop. I kinda love it, though, after seeing the review on Our City Lights!
8. The 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens from Canon. I didn't get it with my camera since I bought the body + 50mm lens separately, and it's certainly not the best lens out there, but I really love the wide angle look of it for certain pictures, and a lens that wide is hard to find for a reasonable price.

One of my Nineteen Before Twenty goals is to practice more photography, and I really want to try experimenting with more gadgets instead of just sticking to the same old lens day in and day out. These are just a few of the things I would love to have in my camera bag by the end of the year!

Inspired by Film Fashion Event: Fantasy/Fairytale

So after skipping Thursday, I decided to participate in another Inspired by Film Fashion Event day. Today's theme was Fantasy/Fairytale/Sci-Fi, and - surprisingly - didn't do one inspired by Doctor Who! *le gasp*

Today's outfit is inspired by Ruby/Little Red Riding hood from Once Upon A Time. I've loved Ruby since she first came on the show - even though she was very immodest and, well, kind of a brat. There was just something about her that I loved. Now that I think of it, it's probably because we saw her both in this world and in the story land, which is where you got to see what she's really like - sweet and loyal. Plus she wears a lot of red and has that awesome plaid shirt that's a lot like mine.

I didn't base my outfit today off any particular outfit of hers, like I did with my the Help inspired outfit, but more on the general feel of her outfits: lots of red, plaid, long straight hair with a teased up-do, and wing-tip eyeliner. She is for sure, a girl after my own heart. ♥

xo,

Katie Burry

When Can I See You Again // Daily Outfit

Last Friday my family went to see Wreck It Ralph - on opening day (score!). For those of you that don't understand my interest in this movie it stems from two things: number one, I have strong love for Disney kids movies (Tangled? Yes please!) and number two, Owl City had a song featured in the soundtrack - and we all know how big of an Owl City fan I am.

On another very important note, can I just point out that I am wearing authentic Jeffrey Campbell Lita spikes!? I can't believe that I when I started reading Little Chief Honeybee, I didn't really like Lita's! Of course her gorgeous style won me over, though, and pretty soon I found myself wanting a pair. So I bought not one, but two faux pairs, and vowed to get a pair after I got a job, and I finally did it! And let me tell you, Kaelah was so right when she said that they'd make me feel like a new woman! *winks* (Also, they are much more comfortable than the knock offs!)

Dreams and Disasters // Daily Outfit

Tuesday I went directly from work out to dinner with my friend Emily + some of her friends to celebrate her 21st birthday. It was a ton of fun, but required me to wear my out-to-dinner clothes to work. Not sure why the idea of wearing a skirt to work has been so nerve wracking to me considering I did it for baby sitting all the time and my new job isn't anymore Marilyn-moment-inducing than baby sitting, but for some reason I just hated the idea of it. I guess jeans are just a comfort zone thing...

Anyway, I got through the day in a skirt totally fine and had a blast at dinner afterwards. Sometimes being a grown up is just the bomb!

I Left My Heart in Metropolis // Daily Outfit

This is what I wore on Sunday. We spent most of day in St. Louis Missouri going to a few shops my parents like and getting lunch (see last photo). It was a lot of fun, and I found that there are some really cool, indie neighborhoods in St. Louis! I really want to go back sometime when I'll have more time to explore and shop. *winks*

This skirt is a new purchase of mine. I found it on Etsy a few weeks ago and I knew I had to have it. I love black dresses but I didn't have a single black skirt! I'm so glad I got this one. It looks great on and the quality is so good! I couldn't resist pairing it with my Show Your True Collar top from ModCloth. I love this blouse, too, but it drives me crazy unless I have it tucked in, so this was a perfect opportunity to wear it!

Also, I feel I need to let you know that ideally I'd have paired this outfit with plain, black ballet flats, but I don't have any. Bummer. Add that to my "need for autumn" list...

A Party of Special Magnificence

Here are some more photos from my party. I put a lot of work into it, and got some really cool stuff from Etsy, as well as finding some really neat tutorials, so I thought I'd share where I got some of my favorite parts of it. ♥

paper straws - When I saw this post from Shannon Nicole Smith I knew I had to have some stripey paper straws at my graduation party. I found some great ones from Hey YoYo for only $4 per 25 and they come in lots of colors. Amanda is super nice, too!

paper mustaches - I know I probably could have cut these out myself, but I didn't feel like spending the money on a die cutter, and I know I couldn't have cut out the curly part without one, so I opted just to buy a pack of 100 for $12 (including shipping) from Etsy.

paper cups - I hate the look of plastic cups, so my mom and I opted to get a pack of paper coffee cups. They come in a variety of colors, but I liked the white with the stripey straws, and it gave the guests a chance to get creative when marking their cups.

balloons - I really wanted to get some round balloons, but since Party City didn't have any I decided on the polka-dot ones instead, and I love them.

peanut butter cups - One of the things I knew I had to make for my party was peanut butter cups. I made them for Christmas and my family devoured them - Maddie especially loved them - I made about 48 and they were one of the first things to go. I can't really speak for this recipe, though, because I stored them in the freezer until the night before the party, but when I took them out they got very melty. I think next time I'm going to try a different recipe.

sugar mustaches - I found these on Hey YoYo when I was ordering the paper straws, and for $5 for 10 I couldn't pass them up!

silverware basket - Thrift store. Love it.

spools of thread - Estate sale.

drink dispensers - Target

clothes pins - Bought these from Walmart and DIYed them using this tutorial (except with paper) and this tutorial. I finished decorating the entire 50 in about an hour.
