Kaelah Bee // Style Icon

{all photos taken from Kaelah's blog, Little Chief Honey Bee}

Today I'm doing a post one one of the (many) blogging ladies that daily inspired my daily choice of clothes: Kaelah Bee. Besides being totally jealous of her adorable name, I am also incredibly jealous of her amazing collection of beautiful dresses. But even though I can't raid her closet (much as I'd love to!) she's still a constant source of inspiration and courage.

What I love most about her style is how she often manages to put so many pieces together, that shouldn't work together, in such an amazing way! I love how she can take a bold, bright, patterned dress, and - when most people would recommend pairing it with neutrals to tone down how bold it is - pair it with even more brightly colored pieces and rock it! It shouldn't work by most standards - with big hair, loud dresses, bright tights and bold shoes most people would consider it too many statement pieces to work together, but it does! And I know that "big hair" and "loud dresses" may sound terrible, but I don't mean it to. I have a deep rooted love for "big" hair and "loud" dresses - and I'm in love with how effortlessly Kaelah rocks them! It's so fun to see and so inspiring. I know I've definitely become much more bold with my choices since discovering her blog.

But what makes her blog even better is how sweet she is! I've tweeted her a couple times, as well as seeing her tweet others gals I follow on Twitter, and she is always just a kind and helpful as can be - even to little bloggers like me. :)

This post wasn't planned ahead of time - just something I decided I had to share with you all. I'll be back next week with my own outfit posts again, and a great DIY that I am so excited about. :) In the mean time hop on over to Little Chief Honey Bee and check out Kaelah's blog if you haven't already - you'll love it! ♥

P.S. I'm guest posting over at Laughing with Broken Eyes next week for One Week to Better Blogging. Amber just posted the schedule today and you should totally check it out! She's going to have some awesome guest posts!

Owl City's Hello Seattle // Music Monday #22

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

So... I was not at all planning on posting this song today, but then last night (when I wrote this post) my iTunes was on shuffle and it came on and I remembered just how much I love this song! So decided to post it anyway.

I first started liking this song right about the time that I visited my BFF in Wyoming, and since then it's definitely become a favorite. Every time I listen to it I end up floating back to that week end - just like Blackmore's Night's songs used to do to me about my aunt and uncle's ranch in Missouri.

It was such a fun week end, I always love hearing this song and remembering how much fun it was - so maybe I'm a little biased about this song, but then, aren't I always? *winks*

The Road Less Traveled // Honest to Blog

I totally love Kaelah's Honest to Blog series, so I decided to secretly borrow it from her. :D Na, just kidding, I totally asked her permission. Did you really think I'd steal a fellow bloggers idea? *winks*

And with that disclosure, here follows Katie's first post in her own Honest to Blog series:

I may not show it here on the blog much, but I have a bad habit of being a bit of a doom-and-gloom sort of person - at least lately. This bothers me because I'm really not unhappy - I'm actually the happiest I've ever been before.

I have trouble expressing it sometimes - I have too many words for my brain to process - but I really feel like I'm on the right path now. Is it the path everyone wants me on? Probably not. Is a path everyone aproves of? No. But then, since when have I ever been on a path that everyone liked and approved of?

I've always done my best not to worry about what other people think/say and do what I believe is right and God-honoring in my life. Because, really, that's all that matters, and I know that if I do anything less than that I will regret it. One of my goals in life is to live without regrets, and while this may seem unrealistic to some people, I don't think it is. I don't mean I want to never make mistakes - we all do that - but I don't want to regret those mistakes, because everything is in God control, and He knows everything that is going to happen to me. Everything - ever mistake, every failure, and ever success will play a roll in shaping my life. If even one of those "failures" didn't happen I wouldn't be who I am today - and since I really like who I am today, why would I waste my time regretting something I can't change, that has helped me be who I am today?

It seems pretty stupid to me, so I'm not going to do that. I'm going to live my life the way I feel is right for me based on my strengths and desires and what I feel God is calling me to do. Some may call this nieve, but I can't live my life based on what others think I should do. I'm not as childish as everyone thinks I am. I don't make all my decisions based on my emotions - quite the oposite, really - I try to make all my decisions with the thought of "what will I think of this when I'm 40?" And right now, where I am, and where I'm headed seems right to me.

I have absolutely amazing friends - I mean, really awesome - a great family, and a blog I love. I know where I want to be in ten years, I am doing my best to get there, and I am enjoying the journey there, too. After all, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey, right?

Hoping you all have a lovely weekend! ♥

Fruity Punch 1950's Inspired Makeup Tutorial

This is one of my new favorite make up looks. Dark black eyeliner reminiscent of the 1950's or 1960's, and bright fuchsia lips. Perfection. ♥

Here are the steps I take to achieve this look:
These are the make up products I use to do this look, but most of it's pretty optional - just do your foundation the way you normally do.

1. After applying your foundation in your favorite way, put on some nude eyeshadow on top of your eye primer  2. Line your lids thickly with liquid eyeliner. It should be thinner toward the inner corners and gradually thicken toward the outer corners.  3. Then mascara (one of my favorite parts!)  4. Put on your lipstick (which is another of my favorite parts)! (I like to put some Aquafora lotion under my lipstick to help my chap lips since I find that bright lipstick tends to accentuate chap lips, and then some foundation + powder to help get a truer color, but I should probably get a proper lip primer) And you're done!

Thank you to Amber Rose for the inspiration behind this look. I love it so much (even more so with the darker hair color I have now), and I really hope you guys like it as much! ♥

Shop Sweet Lulu

I stumbled upon Shop Sweet Lulu several months ago, and instantly fell in love with all the lovely, whimsical products! These are just a few of my favorites of their products. I am so ordering some supplies for my graduation party! I highly recognize you check out the rest of their stuff.

Teacup Jewelry Dish // A Peek into my Room

I got this tea cup on one of my thrifting excursions earlier this year, but, since I wasn't sure what to do with it, it ended up sitting on my desk. Then on the first day of school my parents gave me a multi-stranded bracelet to celebrate my last year, and voila! A handy jewelry dish was born! And I quite like the effect. ♥

So what do you think? Win or fail? Can you think of way to make this even better? Comment and tell me your thoughts!
