"Let Us Not Say Goodbye, but as the French Say, 'Au Revoir'"

Ok, yeah, enough with the drama. I am not leaving, just taking a break, so to speak.

To put it plainer, here's the deal: my goal has been to post twice a day, an outfit post, and something else. I planned on writing the "something else" ahead of time, and posting the outfit posts the day I wear them. This hasn't worked out so well, and I've ended up writing the "something else" the day of and not posting the outfit post till late at night. So I'm taking this week off from posting so I can write posts for next week (and then next week I can write the posts for the next and so on and so forth). Isn't that smart? *grins*

Also, starting next week I will not be doing an outfit post a day. I think my goal will be somewhere between 2-4 per week - but if I'm really inspired there may be weeks that I post five. The point is, they may not be on such a strict schedule, but they will be better, and that makes up for it, right?

So... that's it. This week will be very dull, but I know next week is going to be great! And it will include my 100th post! Yay me!

One last thing, Victoria of Justice Pirate featured my In An English Country Garden outfit on her blog this week end. Check it out.

Missing the Romance

It was too cloudy outside today, and too snowy to go tramping about in my pretty new sandals today, so I tried to do another photo shoot inside today. I'm not %100 happy with the shots, but they're pretty good...

I straightened my hair yesterday, and didn't have time to wash it today. I still like it curly best, but I think straight is cute, too.

I collected these stones over the summer when my big sister was visiting. I miss her so much. I don't talk about her much over here, but really, if it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't still be blogging. Since meeting her online two years ago, she's encouraged me so much, and has always been there for her when I needed her. She's been as true a big sister as any blood related big sister ever could be - and we're not even related, and she didn't have to be my sister. <3

In an English Country Garden

(I actually wore this dress on Friday, but I wasn't able to get good pictures that day, so I got pictures on Saturday and am posting them now.) I ordered this dress last week end, and got it early last week. I measured wrong, and it ended up being a lot shorter than I had planned on. Modesty aside, it looked ridiculous on me. I looked like Shirley Temple - and my curly hair didn't help any. But I didn't mind since I love the way it looks layered over this white eyelit skirt I have. (Sorry it looks weird here, the skirt is too big and too long so I have to pin it but it was coming down and I didn't notice till just now) The pairing is so light and feminine, and I felt like I ought to be going to a proper English tea in an English country garden.

So I've mentioned before that I'm going to a wedding in April. I'm driving to Alabama with my best friend, Heather, and her mother. Originally they were going to pick me up, but they realized how far out of the way that is, so on Friday Mrs. Knisley called my mom to talk about the trip. Long story short I get to fly out to Wyoming (my first time on a plane in 14 years!) and stay with Heather and her family for a couple days before driving to Alabama. I am psyched - to say the least.

I've known Heather for three years, and we've been so close for so long, but since we live so far apart we're not able to see each other for more than a couple weeks a year - so seeing her is enough reason in itself to be very excited! But I've yet to visit her, or meet any of her family, so that is even more reason to be excited! I've been able to talk to some of her family online (ya gotta love FaceBook, right?) and I like them lots already. I can't wait to meet them in real life. *bounces like a little girl*

Oh, and this dress is so coming to Wyoming with me... <3

This song first premiered on Disney's Sonny with a Chance. It was one of the first episodes my family watched.

I love this song. It's a song about a girl going after her dreams. She's a little lonely, and a little over her head, but she's not letting that get her down. She's pushing through it and she knows that someday it will all fall into place. <3

"What could she possible need?..."

I love this dress. It seems every time I wear it I end up with an outfit I just adore. It was one of the best investments I've ever made. <3

This outfit kinda felt sorta boho to me (at least as boho as I'll ever go) and it was so comfy , too! I felt like I should be going on a spring road trip or a summer picnic. I also loved the geek flair the glasses gave off. <3

I always have such problems getting good pictures. I always forget to take lighting into account. For once I remembered, and I'm really happy with how they turned out, despite the fact that I only had a few minutes to get the pictures!

60's MakeUp Tutorial

Amber from Laughing with Broken eyes was asking for a tutorial on doing 1960's inspired make up last week, so - since I've been wanting to do a make up tutorial for a while, and since I know how to do 1960's make up pretty well - I said I'd make one for her.

Foundation: Women in the 1960's wore little to no foundation, so I only applied foundation to my eye lids and lips to help the eyeshadow and lipstick stick, as well as a couple red spots I felt the need to cover up. Before lightly brushing on some powder foundation.

Eyeshadow: Think think bright, think vibrant, think neon colors. Cover the lid from corner to corner, but not above the lid.

Eyeliner: Using black liquid liner or black eyeshadow with an angle brush, line your upper lid starting at the inner corner. At the middle of your eyelid begin to thicken the line and work it into a cat eye at the outer corner.

Eyelashes: You can use false eyelashes if you like, but I prefer to just curl my own eyelashes and put a couple coats of black mascara on.

Lips: Nude lips were in during the 60's, so you can use a sheer lip gloss if you like. I'm not really a lip gloss girl, so I used a light lipstick instead.

Ta da!!! Now go out and look lovely in your 60's look!

Modified Version: For myself, I wanted something a little more modern, so I softened the eyeshadow by putting a light, sparkly eyeshadow over the purple, smudged the bottom eyeliner more and put a brighter pink lipstick on.

"You're Not Human!"

beautifully pure katie dahl personal style modest fashion
I decided to wear one of the outfits I wore over the week end again today, since I couldn't get very good pictures the first time. I like this outfit lots. It reminds me of this outfit of Demi Lovato's.

Really sorry I didn't post earlier today. I'll be sure to do better tomorrow.

Edit: I knew I forgot to mention something. (I'll blame it on a lack of sleep). I got this dress from The Bee's Knees because I just could not pass up the cute silhouette and neckline - despite the fact that it's too short. I was going to have some other fabric added to the end of it, but it looked so nice with my white and black houndstooth skirt under it, I decided to just leave it as is and layer it over the skirt when I wear it. ;-)

We're Going Round and Round

I don't know why I had Round and Round by Selena Gomez in my head while I was taking these pictures.

This outfit is based around these hair clips from my big sister, which she got me for my birthday:

It was so sweet of her. She took me online shopping (since we couldn't go shopping together in real life) and told me I had a $25 gift card. Meaning she would by me anything I liked up to $25 dollars. It took me three nights of shopping to finally find something that seemed special enough.

Gray Skirt - H&M

Tights - Simply Vera by Vera Wang

My parents surprised my sisters and I this week end by taking us on an over-night trip to a water park.

I decided to try to do A Pictures an Hour like Rebeca from The Clothes Horse does sometimes, but it didn't turn out so well. Nevertheless, here are the pictures:
